Roma club heavily fined by UEFA for breaching spending rules

Italian football club Roma have been fined 6 million euros for exceeding the limits proposed by UEFA in terms of controlling their spending, UEFA has revealed in an official statement. This was revealed in the monitoring for the year 2025.

UEFA, European football's governing body, has said in a recent report that Italian club Roma has breached regulations in the management of its funds. Roma have mysteriously surpassed the provisional target set out in the 'settlement agreement' with UEFA for the 2025 financial year. First, the club was fined 2 million euros.

In addition, Roma's team's cost-base percentage is over 70% for the 2025 calendar year. This resulted in a fine of another 4 million euros by UEFA. This brings the total fine to 6 million euros.

As clearly stated in UEFA's official statement, the reason for these financial punishments is that the Roma club exceeded the cost-effectiveness ratio regulations. Such fines are part of UEFA's efforts to ensure that football clubs in Europe are fair in terms of management across different leagues.
