Seven-time Formula-1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has sent a clear message to England football fans on the eve of World Cup 2026. Instead of singing 'It's Coming Home' eagerly at the start of the team's journey, he suggested expressing that joy only after actually winning.
"I have no expectations. I don't follow football that much to be honest; I'm more interested in MotoGP and NFL. But I watch matches whenever I get the chance, especially England. We shouldn't start 'It's Coming Home' too early like we usually do. It would be nice to sing that song after a win. It's a great song, but…," Hamilton commented on GPblog.
England made a strong first start in this tournament and won 4-2 against Croatia. After that victory, the fans in the stands in Texas enthusiastically sang 'It's Coming Home'. Recalling the same occasion, Hamilton suggested that the team should be patient until the victory and then express national pride through the song.
