Andrey Arshavin comments: Ronaldo's national team journey should have ended before 2026, not later

According to Arshavin, Ronaldo's national team career should end not later than 2026, but earlier. Around the same time, Ronaldo scored a goal in Portugal's 2–1 win over Croatia in the 1/16 final.
Former Russian footballer Andrey Arshavin has responded to comments made by Cristiano Ronaldo's sister. "Cristiano Ronaldo's story in the national team should have ended much earlier," Arshavin said on Match TV, as she hinted that Ronaldo will bid farewell to Portugal after the 2026 World Cup.

The comments were made on the night (July 2–3) of Portugal's 2–1 win over Croatia in the 1/16 final of the World Cup 2026. This match was held at 'BMO Field' in Toronto, Canada and was managed by a team led by referee Espen Eskas from Norway. Ronaldo scored one goal for Portugal.
The World Cup 2026 will continue from June 11 to July 19 in Canada, America and Mexico. The current title holder is Argentina.
