Uzbek referee Ilgiz Tantashev heavily criticized after Paraguay-France match

In the Paraguay-France match, while Paraguay was playing hard, the referee Ilgiz Tantashev did not give a single yellow card and there was a lot of criticism. Media such as BBC, L'Équipe, BILD questioned Tantashev's decisions describing the many blows and attacks seen in the match. French commentators and former players have also expressed their displeasure with Paraguay's play.
After the Paraguay-France match, Uzbek referee Ilgiz Tantashev was heavily criticized. The world media was surprised that not one of the Paraguayan players was given a yellow card despite the many serious fouls and attacks.
The BBC detailed Tantashev's mistakes in their report: Gustavo Velasquez's intervention in the penalty area before the penalty, Diot Upamecano's yellow elbow in the chin, Matias Galarza's blow to Jules Conde's face, and Michael Olis' yellow card for Galarza. Additionally Andres Cubas made a nasty tackle on Adrien Rabiot.
Many were surprised by this: not one of the Paraguayan players received a yellow card despite so many infractions.
France media L'Équipe could not believe this development. "It's surprising. Paraguay's misdeeds would have been almost perfect," they commented. In the article, assistant coach Carlos González stated that it was a small price to pay for the penultimate penalty incident in the final stages, as the Paraguayan side played a very tough game.

The French magazine gave Tantashev the lowest rating of '1'.
Former goalkeeper Joe Hart also expressed his anger at the affair: "Those players are absolutely disgraceful. If they were in my team, I would have taken them off the bench," he said. Commentator Micah Richards also responded, saying, "It's memorable to watch; Paraguay shouldn't be like this. Their defense is solid, but there's no need for action like this."
It's nothing new: Paraguay's ousting of Germany in the last round was also a case of flying fouls. The Germany match, as well as the clashes in this match, were broadcast on BILD; "In 40 degree heat the South Americans committed all manner of acts, even the most perverse. Galarza's accidental blow to the hand was an act of physical violence," they stated.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic also responded personally, saying, "If I was playing for France, I think I would have received four or five red cards. My self-control would not have stood at such a provocation." However, the French players managed to remain surprisingly calm under such tense conditions.
All in all, this Paraguay-France match information has once again become a debate on the world's corruption checklist and serious questions have been raised about the refereeing decisions. Tantashev seems to have already ruled out the possibility of new matches being appointed, given the impact of this criticism on the world media.
