Premier League giants Manchester City are still in talks over a new contract with Spain midfielder Rodri, who plays a key role in their squad, according to world expert Fabrizio Romano. But currently both the factions are far apart regarding the deal.
Mentions started in the month of October on the conditions set by the club. But despite extensive talks in May, no understanding was reached. The two factions faced significant differences over the treaty. There is an opinion that money matters and personal circumstances have had an effect. Radri's current contract expires in the summer of 2027. So even if release time comes, the club still has a year to go.
So far the two sides are not fully united. There is no confirmation that the solution will be floated this summer. Some analysts say that Rodri is likely to choose a new club to continue his career after the 2026-27 season.
Radri, who joined City from Atletico Club in 2019, moved for the highest fee. He contributed two goals and one assist in 37 matches last season. Rodri, who is currently representing Spain in the World Cup 2026, has put all his focus on the championship. Their first match saw a 0-0 draw against Cape Verde, preparing for the Saudi Arabia match on 21 June.
